There has been a last-minute flurry of withdrawals ahead of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, which get underway on Saturday (23 August).

One of the biggest disappointments for equestrian fans is the news that Michael Jung’s horseSam FBW will not compete in Normandy.
The horse, who took Michael to individual gold at London 2012 as well as the last World Equestrian Games in 2010, is lame and has been withdrawn.
The official statement from the German Equestrian Federation explained that the 14-year-old gelding has an inflammation in a front hoof.
Jung will instead ride the nine-year-old mareFischerRocana FST.
Dutch double
Two horses on the Dutch dressage squad have also been withdrawn.
Edward Gal’s top horse Glock’s Undercover has been found to have an inflammation in the cervical spine area, and will not be able to compete. Gal will instead ride Glock’s Voice, a 12-year-old black stallion.
Also out are Danielle Heijkoop and Kingsley Siro NOP, after the horse incurred an injury.They are replaced withDiederik van Silfhout on Arlando NH NOP.
