Oktoberfest Horse Trials takes place this week at the prestigious Stable View, with classes from National through to CCI4*-S. This event is a particularly exciting one in the US eventing calendar, as it not only sees top combinations consolidating their winter campaign compete alongside the next generation, but also serves as a key battleground in the US Equestrian Open.
Some of the strongest riders in the sport will be looking to gain valuable points to secure their ranking in the US Equestrian Open. Tamie Smith is already confirmed as series champion with 265 points, but second and third place are still up for grabs. Caroline Pamukcu and Lucienne Bellissimo are in contention for a placing, and are both entered in the CCI4*-S with two rides, so will be looking to gain valuable points before the series heads towards its finale.
Pamukcu has HSH Connor and HSH Tolan King entered, with whom she finished first and second at this event in 2025, while Bellissimo will bring Dyri and Kitsch Couture HPK. Dyri won the Stable View Spring CCI4*-S earlier this year, meaning Bellissimo has a chance of winning both of Stable View’s 2026 CCI4*-S competitions. Kitsch Couture finished on a strong score of 33.5 at last year’s event, with the mare feeling especially strong in the dressage and showjumping.
And it’s not just about the top riders — with classes from National Beginner all the way through to CCI4*, the event will give some of the US’s emerging horses an international platform.
