Italy has been promoted to division one of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping series, after winning the last leg of the division two series on home soil.
Clear winner
From a field of 13 nations, five were competing for the last available qualifying points. It was Italy and Sweden who battled it out for the top position, but Italy was the clear winner on a final total of 16. Sweden was second on 20 points, while Denmark came third on 24.
Norway was leading Division 2, but Italy’s win in Arezzo has moved them down to therunner-up spot. Both teams have qualified for the Barcelona final (9–12 October), but while Italy is guaranteed a place in Europe Division One, Norway must finish in the top eight to join the premier league next year.
Very important
“It is so very important for us, because we want to prepare well for the European Championships in Aachen next year so we can get Olympic qualification, and it’s not so easy to prepare for this top level if you are not competing against the best horses and riders all the time” saidPiergiorgio Bucci who jumped a double clear for Italy.
