As the Global Champions League continued in the ‘City of Lights’ last weekend, the latest leg ensured dramatic shifts in the overall ranking leaderboard.
Clear victory
There may have been umbrellas in the crowd of the tenth round of the competition, but the damp weather did not compromise the high standard of riding. Twelve teams took to the arena to battle it out as the series nears its conclusion.
Antwerp Diamonds seized the top spot on the podium, with team members Audrey Coulter and Harrie Smolders shaking off the competition to take the top prize. A close contest was broken by Audrey’s final round, where she jumped clear to ensure a clear win. “This class suits us very well. We train well together and this plays to our strengths,” said Harrie.
Antwerp Diamonds’ win catapults them into third place in the overall rankings. Monaco Aces and Valkenswaard United battled it out for the top spot, with the latter overtaking Monaco Aces by a mere three points to sit in pole position with 239, with Antwerp Diamonds third at 226.
Master
In the Paris leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, it was Sweden’s Rolf-Göran Bengtsson who came out on top, riding Casall ASK.
“Casall is 17 years old now, so could be his last season – every show I can go with him and win a class like a GCT class is very special,” said Rolf-Göran.
Half a second behind Rolf-Göran’s time was France’s Simon Delestre, followed by fellow French rider, Pénélope Leprevost in third place.
Mighty Christian Ahlmann remains at the top of the overall ranking with 209 points, with Rolf-Göran’s win moving him up to a close second place with 200, whilst Edwina Top-Alexander currently sits at 197 points.
