Charlotte Dujardin enjoyed an incredible weekend at Hartpury Festival of Dressage 2018, taking seven titles with her exciting string of young horses.
Future star
The Olympic legend won the Elite Stallions Young Horse Prix St Georges Qualifier on River Rise Nisa. The promising seven-year-old, who was bred and owned by Sarah Tyler Evans, scored 76.37%, leaving the rest of the competition far behind.
The pair went on to win the final later in the week – despite the fact it was only the mare’s third ever Prix St Georges.
“For a seven-year-old to come out and do a test like that is really impressive,” said Charlotte. “You can see she loves to work and finds it very easy.
“I forget she’s only seven, and it’s easy to push and ask for more because she is such a giver and has so much talent. She is definitely going to be one of my top horses for future Olympics.”
Alice Oppenheimer and Headmore Davina were second (71.80%) ahead of Zoe Sleigh and Francisco 51 in third (70.18%.)
Winning streak
Charlotte continued her winning streak on the third day of the Festival, narrowly beating her Olympic team mates in the Hazlewoods CDI Grand Prix. Charlotte took first place on Mount St John Freestyle with a score of 77.435%, just ahead of Carl Hester and Hawtins Delicanto on 76.087%. Spencer Wilton was in third on Super Nova II with 75.848%.
Charlotte went on to produce two more fantastic tests on the fourth day at Hartpury. She won the Shearwater Young Dressage Horse Semi Final with Hawtins San Floriana (78.64) and the Equine Construction Advanced Medium 96 on her joint owned horse Gio (77.54%).
Exquisite test
The Olympic gold-medallist’s run of good form continued on the final day, when she won the Baileys Horse Feeds FEI CD1 Grand Prix Special. Mount St John Freestyle produced an exquisite test and their score of 80.511% put them way ahead of the competition.
Once again, Carl was second Hawtins Delicato who performed a beautiful test to score 77.298%.
Charlotte’s final win of the five-day Festival was in the Fairfax Saddles Monarch Equestrian FEI Prix St George. This time Charlotte rode Carl Hester’s Brioso II to victory with a score of 75.70%. Michael Eilberg was second with Daltrey (70.88%), while Tom Goode and Shilo placed third (70.44%).
