British star Carl Hester claimed his second consecutive Reem Acra FEI World Cup leg at Olympia, during an emotional evening for dressage fans.
Having won yesterday’s Grand Prix, Carl came into today’s competition in determined mood, producing a score of 84.669% to win by a clear
All five members of the Ground Jury had Hester as the winner, putting him nearly three percent clear of Hans Peter Minderhoud and Glock’s Flirt in second.
Edward Gal and Glock’s Voice were third, with Ireland’s Judy Reynolds finishing fourth.
Carl had no sooner ridden his lap of honour with Nip Tuck when he was back in the arena for Valegro’s official retirement ceremony.
The great gelding was led into the arena in hand while Carl, Charlotte Dujardin and groom Alan Davies were interviewed about Valegro’s many achievements.
Charlotte was legged up into the saddle and rode through some Valegro’s best movements to the tune of Time to say goodbye.
