SomerfordPremier League show in Cheshire is to hold a new amateur dressage competition in 2016, with the final judged by Carl Hester.
Future stars
The Future International Dressage Star will have sections for riders aged under 10 and up to the age of 21, who will be judged on their ability, position and effectiveness.
Preliminary rounds are to be hosted on Saturday 28 May 2016, with the top four in each section going forward to Sunday’s championship – where Carl will select a supreme champion.
International status
In addition to the changes to the schedule, Jo Graham and Susie Farnon have taken over as organisers this year, following the retirement of Julian Sebire after more than a decade in the job.
Jo and Susie have applied forinternational statusto run a CDI3* alongside the Premier League fixture next year.If approved, the CDI will feature small tour and big tour as well as international competitions for pony, junior and young riders.
Huge success
“Somerford has built into one of the finest show facilities in the country,” said European and World medallist Gareth Hughes. “With the new team involved, which includes former international rider and now respected judge Jo Graham, I’m not only looking forward to competing there but also know what a huge success it will be.”
