A ‘much-loved’22-year-old donkey has been stabbed 12 times at herhome on a community farm.
Stitches
Cheeky was found in her stable at Greenmeadow Community Farm in Cwmbran, with extensive injuries to her hind legs, abdomen and neck.While some of the wounds were superficial, others needed stitches.
Staff at the farm have been working closely with Gwent Police, who believe the wounds were deliberately inflicted but have yet to identify the weapon used.
Senseless act
Cheeky shares her stable with two other donkeys, but was the only one injured.
“Cheeky is a much-loved character at the farm and this senseless act of animal cruelty has left staff shocked and devastated,” saidfarm duty managerElizabeth Burns.
The donkey is being closely monitored and receiving the “best possible care”.
Disgusted
Councillor Giles Davies for Abersychan ward has offered a £100 reward for any information, saying he was “shocked and disgusted” by the attack.
The donkey was injured between 5pm Friday 28 November and 8am on Saturday 29 November.Police are appealing for anyone with information to call them on 101 quoting log 136 29/11/14
