The 2015 SEIB Search for a Star Championship at HOYS has been won by a four-year-old, backed earlier this year.
‘So easy’
Games of Thrones was bought by his rider Kieran Quinn from Ireland as a three-year-old.
“I couldn’t afford a made horse, and I prefer something that no-one has done anything with”, Kieran told Port Talbot Magnet. “I started him in February and backed him myself – he was so easy and has never put a foot wrong.”
Such was his confidence in the horse, Kieran entered him for Search for a Star qualifier at Bury Farm, just four months after being backed.
Kieran said he was still quite green at that point, but you would never have known the horse was just four years old when he competed at HOYS – even though it was only his fifth show.
‘Happiest man’
The pair won the SEIB Search for a Star Show Hunter class, which then qualified them for the Championship on Sunday. A foot-perfect performance from the stunning grey, saw judges Katie Jerram and Robert Oliver pick him as the 2015 winner.
“I want to thank all the judges and everyone who is involved,” said Kieran. “You’ve made me the happiest man on the planet. I never thought that I would take the championship.”
