Gemma Tattersall has won the Event Rider Masters (ERM) series, following the best season of her career.
ERM domination
Gemma dominated the 2017 series, achieving top ten finishes in all the five legs she competed in – including two wins.
She won the opening leg at Chatsworth with Quicklook V and leg five at Gatcombe with Arctic Soul, where she was also name British Open Champion.
At the penultimate leg at Blair Castle (28 August) she came fourth with her new ride Pamero 4, who was produced by Laura Collett.
Commanding lead
It was a one-two for Australia, with Shane Rose (Virgil) and Chris Burton (Graf Liberty) taking the top two spots. The 2016 ERM champion Oliver Townend was third riding Cooley Master Class.
Gemma’s fourth place at the Scottish event means she cannot be caught in the series. The 32-year-old from West Sussex will be officially crowned the 2017 ERM series champion at the final leg at Blenheim (15-16 September), where she will receive a £30,000 cheque.
‘Delighted’
“I decided to the target the ERM series at the end of last year,” said Gemma. “I had a plan of which horses I was hoping to ride at each leg, but I’ve had to be flexible as things often happen with horses to change the situation.
“I am delighted how it’s panned out and how all the horses have all performed. This series makes us really compete. I don’t come to a leg just to canter round, I arrive with the aim to finish on the podium.”
