Horse & Country TV was a recipient at the annualBritish Horse Society awards, which were held at Saddlers’ Hall in London last week (7 November).
Wellbeing
The channel was given the Elwyn Hartley-Edwards Award, presented to the writer, broadcaster or publication whose work has been particularly beneficial to the wellbeing of the horse.
H&C TV’s chief executive Heather Killen was presented with the award bythe President of The British Horse Society, Martin Clunes.
“People can’t care about what they can’t see,” said Heather. “H&C TV’s mission is to make the equestrian world more visible in our media, in the same way the BHS aims to make horses more visible on our roads and bridleways.
“We are deeply gratified by the Society’s recognition that our work contributes to the wellbeing of the sector.”
Awards
The BHS awards are in recognition of ‘those who have gone to extraordinary lengths to help horses in need, dedicated miles of new equestrian routes and helped countless young people to achieve their dreams of a career with horses’.
The charity also presented a record number of long service awards for those people who have dedicated many years to helping the BHS improve the lives of the UK’s horses and riders.
“This is, without doubt, one of my favourite days of the year,” said Lynn Petersen, Chief Executive of the BHS.”To be able to recognise the incredible achievements of our wonderful volunteers is a gift we all enjoy.”
