Paralympian Natasha Baker is jumping out of a plane to raise money for a charity close to her heart.
Holiday of a lifetime
On 14 September Natasha will “face her fears” by skydiving out of a plane at around 13,000 feet. In doing so the 24-year-old hopes to raise funds for Dreamflight.
Once a year the UK charity takes 192 children with a serious illness or disability on the holiday of a lifetime to Orlando, Florida.
The children travel without their families, which is only made possible thanks to the army of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and volunteers who care for the children 24 hours a day.
These holidays aren’t just great fun for the children, they enable them to become more independent and gain in confidence.
Dream come true
“Dreamflight totally changed my life,” said Natasha. “As a nine-year-old I faced my fears. I was a shy child that never wanted to be separated from her mum.
“I came back from Florida a confident and more independent young lady. It was then I decided I was going to win a gold medal at the Paralympics. Twelve years later my dream came true.
“I truly believe if it hadn’t been for Dreamflight I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Before Natasha makes the leap she is heading to the World Equestrian Games where sheenters the competiton with an unbeaten record at championship level.
