This year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials (1-4 September) promises to deliver four days of unmissable action from some of the world’s top horse and rider combinations.
Olympic champions
The box office is now open and tickets are expected to be in high demand for the prestigious four-star event.
This year’s horse trials will provide spectators with an extra special viewing, as British riders will be competing on home soil for the first time following their Olympic campaign in Rio.
Visitors to Burghley will have the chance to watch Olympic medal winners in action as well enjoying all the highs and lows from the tough CCI4* cross-country course.
History re-written
Located in the beautiful parkland of Burghley House in Stamford, the 2015 running produced an astounding result when Michael Jung and his horse La Biosthetique Sam won on their Burghley debut.
Jung became the first German rider to have his name inscribed in the roll of honour at Burghley. He followed up his win with further victories in Kentucky and Badminton, to claim the Rolex Grand Slam.
The premier occasion for top level eventing will this year attract over 80 competitors from around the world as they battle for the biggest prize in the autumn sporting calendar.
The four-day competition gets underway on Thursday 1 September, with two days of dressage in the main arena, followed by cross-country day and the pinnacle show jumping test on the Sunday.
