Two worthy winners have taken the BE80(T) titles in 2014 EquestrianClearance.com British Riding Clubs (BRC) championships.
Quite emotional
Samantha Evans from Meon Riding Club in Hampshire finished the first section a full five penalties ahead of the competition with a score of 26.0pen.
“I’m very proud and quite emotional,” said Samantha, who works as an accountant. “It’s taken a long time to get to this stage and at times I’ve nearly given up, but we made it in the end. Toptimist Utopia is both charming and sweet in equal measure to being mischievous and petulant – it’s all on his terms.”
Amanda Walker (Templefire) andEmma Sutton (Coltstown Glider) both scored 31.0pen. Emma was too speedy on the cross-country, which meant Amanda was closest to the optimum time to take second place.
Give it a go
There was another draw in the second section, with the first and second placed riders finishing on a score of 23.0pen. Once again the results were decided on the cross-country time andMichelle Harris and Yella Fella from East Midlands Dressage Group were declared the winners.
Michelle competes at Advanced Medium level dressage, and took up eventing just two years ago.
“I wanted to give it a go before I got too old, and I knew the horse was careful enough,” said Michells who runs a livery yard at Belton, Lincolnshire and . “I’m going to use the BE training vouchers ahead of next season, as well as continuing to compete at dressage.”
